Thanks for the good explanation, Russ.  I think that the 3c59x module
was _not_ included in the standard boot.img floppy, but I'm fairly
certain that it is on the bootnet.img.   I'd check it quickly except I'm
afraid of the loopback filesystem bug in 2.4.x.  :)

We had to take out some of the modules that are in the normal RH 7.0
install images to make room for the larger 2.4 kernel + XFS.

And I'm almost certain that the module is _not_ compiled into the
kernel.  I have the 2nd to last test ISO here, and all of the kernels
contain the 3c59x driver as a module, and all of the kernel configs in
the SRPM contain CONFIG_VORTEX=m

At any rate, the module _is_ available on the system after installation,
even if the installer didn't detect it.  Russ's modules.conf advice is
the way to go.
