Hello,
Well, I know this is somehow offtopic but I couldn't resist...
What do you guys at SGI think about the 5Dwm(http://www.5Dwm.org)
project?
also check out an interview with the authour at:
http://www.linuxworld.com/linuxworld/lw-2001-01/lw-01-indigo.html
This is a hot question from the interview:
"LinuxWorld.com: As we conduct this interview, SGI shares are trading at
around $3, and the future
of the company seems uncertain. What do you see as the future of SGI?"
"Erik Masson: Well, that's a tough call. But I would say that SGI should
focus more on Linux as
the next great Irix platform rather than just providing a patch-level CD
for Linux. No doubt that
SGI is and has been a great contributor to Linux, but now it's time to
do more ... for its
customers. I can easily see SGI offering its own implementation of Linux
as the choice for
professional users. People wouldn't mind paying a little more than they
do for Red Hat and
turning a midrange PC into a killer workstation powered by SGI's
leading-edge technology. There
is a market for that, and a huge one."
I agree with him and I might be on of those people.
cheers,
gz
