Are you using devfs? I have seen problems with console access related to
devfs - although in my case the failed to get initial console happened
when I did not configure devfs. Also, where are the athlon patches coming
from - they are nothing we distribute. If you can I would take the latest
cvs tree as your starting point, and check the config options carefully.
An alternate starting point would be the latest kernel source RPM
although this would entail more work getting all the code into a single tree.
