I've seen lots of discussion on the reiserfs list about "gcc-2.96". It appears
to be Red-Hat specific and should be avoided when compiling a stock kernel. I
believe Red-Hat put kgcc (using SuSE so can't confirm) on for compatibility
reasons. gcc-2.95.2 is the latest on gnu.org's ftp site. 2.4.0 test kernels
would compile with it. I haven't tried the 2.4 yet.
