The ppc is not going to be an officially supported platform by SGI.
(at this point only ia32 and in the future ia64 will be supported)
As such the pre packaged rpms may or may not work with other
architectures.

As far as making sure XFS actually works on other platforms, well again
most of development is being done on ia32.
The development team will make every effort to help support XFS on other
architectures.

Your bet bet is to download the source directly from the cvs tree and do the
compilation manually.
(And quite frankly it's a lot easier and less frustrating than mucking with
rpm)
