Is this an NFS mount?  There used to be problems with writing to NFS
mounted files from a client machine then trying to execute the program
from the host machine.  The host marks the file as text busy but
because NFS is stateless, the host does not know when to clear the busy
flag.  I do not know if this problem still exists on NFS, I just
stopped performing that type of operation.
