for all of you here playing around with XFS the following might be
interesting:

i have put together a miniroot system for linux which contains all
the stuff needed to convert the root fs to XFS or to xfs_repair an
non mounted XFS root fs or to restore a backup from the network if
anything else fails ... the idea of that this is a simple ramdisk
image booted via the initrd mechanism and containing (hopefully :-)
all you need for the above tasks ... all you need is a separate
ext2 /boot partition and a minute to try it out ... all that to-
gether with a small README you may find at
