i run several machines for testing with xfs root filesystem and it
looks like something is not working properly ... all the systems
are dual bootable with ext2 root from which i max xfs_check or
xfs_repair the xfs root partition ... from time to time i
just boot into that system (after a clean shutdown of the
xfs root system) and check the xfs fs and in most cases
it contains various simple problems ... anybody else
seeing this too? (anybody else running with xfs as
/?)
also i quite often have situations where i can't boot the system
with xfs root - it either dumps into kdb on mounting the fs r/w
(bt shows only things like flip_close etc. - something i think
russel or nathan saw too) or it can mount it but nothing
useable is on it (can't find /sbin/getty etc.) ... in
both cases booting into the ext2 system and letting
xfs_repair fix the problems helps - after that it
definitely boots fine again ... also this is
quite reproducable
some more side infos: p5 or dual p6 systems with 64m or 128m, ide
disk, no kio-stuff, redhat 6.2 (egcs) and always updating to the
latest xfs cvs tree
anybody else seeing this or any ideas?
