This probably isn't going to get high priority attention from developers, but
it's also probably something you could submit a patch for.

inv_setup_base() currently sets up the paths, ultimately choosing a inv_base
path (i.e. /var/lib/xfsdump/), and then appending to that to get other paths
needed for operation.

You would simply need to add option handling to dump & restore to point
inv_base to the desired path.

I'm not sure that there's any more to it than that; that'd be the place to
start, anyway.
