Yes, this particular system where I tried has reiserfs as root filesystem, and
ext2 for /boot, and xfs for several data partitions. It is not the only
bootable partition (fortunately). On another computer I have ext3, but it runs
opensuse 11.0 currently.

Only / (reiserfs) was destroyed, badly.

I haven't lost valuable data because the affected partition is one of the tests
partitions (the main one). But a lot of time and effort, yes.
