ok, inode number is -1...

Did you use %llx to print it, i.e. it really is 32 bits of F's not 64?

Hmm are we getting hold of a NULLAGINO somehow...

I wonder if it would be crazy to set NULLAGINO to ((xfs_agino_t)-2) to test
this theory and see if you got 0xfffffffe

I wouldn't do that yet unless Dave chimes in on whether or not I'm crazy :)

I haven't really had time to look at code to see if this makes sense.
