This isn't a particularly clean solution - its just comparing two paths
as strings?  (which might work for the simple case, but may not work as
you're expecting if symlinks are used within the paths, such that paths
differ yet point to the same directory).  Perhaps what you want here is
an option to not create those pesky library symlinks at all?
