Hi Simon,
You may want to try uncommenting the following line in
/etc/X11/XF86Config
#fontpath "unix/:7100" # uncomment this to use X Font Server
and rebooting or redoing the init sequence. The above should expand the
list of available fonts and hopefully one of the scalable fonts will
get picked. If the result is still unsatisfactory, please go through
the appropriate support channel.
