We have an SGI VISUAL WORKSTATION 540 with 4 Processors and 2GB RAM and rthe
Flat panel 1600SW. Based on the information on www.linux.sgi.com we were able
to install Linux (SuSE 6.3) on that machine. It's running now fine (woth all
4 Processors) with exception of the strange keyboard behaviour..
Anyway we can only adress 1GB of the RAM.
I found information for SGI ProPach 1.2 with rpm's including newer kernels
(2.13) for the Visual Workstations. Unfortunately I cannot boot that kernel,
because lilo is not working on the 540. (We have to use arcx) Building a new
Kernel is possible but it simply wouldn't boot.
I know that there is no support for the Visual Workstations running Linux.
Therefore I would be more than grateful if you could simply inform me, where to
look further or which persons are involved in the developmnet of the linux on
the Visual workstation. I think I can be of assistance to them as well.
