I thought I tried that and got nothing. Sigh. I'll blame it on my
impaired typing to do a finger injury. :-)

%gcc -v

%egcs -v

I don't build the fortran libraries so I don't have g77 on my system.

Not from the release site (since I've been using it longer), but
I haven't a clue where I originally got it from.
