Another possibility is to accept the incompatibility between pcp applications by leaving the pmOptions stuff as is (but please more documented). Instead pmmgr could set $PCP_HOST to pass the target hostspec to the general monitor-daemon ... except that the $PCP_HOST environment variable is itself completely undocumented.
