I'm seeing this for qa/995 on vm04 (i586, CentOS 5.11 (Final)) and vm25
(x86_64, CentOS 5.5 (Final)) ...

kenj@vm04:~/src/pcp/qa/src$ python -V
Python 2.4.3

kenj@vm04:~/src/pcp/qa/src$ python pmapi_exceptions.python
  File "pmapi_exceptions.python", line 21
    except pmapi.pmUsageErr as usage:
                             ^
SyntaxError: invalid syntax

interestingly no other python tests are failing, so there must be some
remediation or "notrun" magic being applied for other tests on this
platform.

Any clues from the Python gallery?
