Extending pmdaInterface (as Mark suggests) is certainly feasible.

But I think it would need an extension of the pmcd.conf format and pmcd changes to allow arguments there for a dso pmda.

And an extension the *spec syntax for the argument to
__pmSpecLocalPMDA().

Not show stoppers, but additional tasks.
