I've reproduced this locally now - it passes with secure sockets enabled,
but fails when built with configure --without-secure-sockets option set.

It's got to be something specific to the non-secure-sockets code paths
and very likely related to the address wildcard changes ... Dave, can
you take a closer look?  This appears to be a regression.
