SSL code merged

Just a quick note - the SSL updates have been merged
into the dev branch with no new QA failures (I have a
handful of pre-existing networking-related failures,
and intermittent/racey failures, which I am sifting
through as time permits).

This will no doubt require some effort to merge with
the IPv6 changes, Dave - lemme know what issues arise
there?  (or better, point me toward a git repo without
these changes once you're good and ready).  Thanks!
