Oops.  Vague memory of fixing something similar to this, except for
spaces in instance names, ages back... hmmm, looks like I missed a
spot (bad pun, sorry).

Yes, please.  There's a qa/archives directory - could you commit a minimal
test case there so I can easily pull it in?  Thanks.
