I'm using CNAME in my pmie "control"-file for most of the hosts I'm
monitoring, so it sounds like you've nailed it :-) I downloaded your
pmie_check.sh, and replaced it on my monitor host running pcp-2.7.1-1.

Will let you know how it looks in a couple of days.
