pmie (used with pmie_check) is generating a lot of zombies.  It appears that pmie_check starts a number of pmie processes which then spawn pmie processes which then do NOT go away.  The first run of pmie_check from the command line starts all pmie processes and immediately creates for each one four zombie processes.

I ran pmie_check multiple times from the command line; no change in the number of pmie processes or in the number of zombie children.

The system is the same as was previously mentioned on the list:

Shell is pdksh (5.2.14)
System is Red Hat Linux 7.3 with the SGI Installer Disk used, and the default SGI kernel running (2.4.18-4SGI_XFS_1.1).
The hardware is a Compaq Deskpro 2000 Pentium MMX, 64M RAM
pmcd is v2.2.2
Let me note that this system (and kernel) has module support.

Here is a ps list (attached).  The server mine3 is the localhost where this ps was taken from.

The other (remote) systems are Red Hat 7.x (some with XFS, some without; some with module support, some without; some 7.1, some 7.3).
