I would prefer to leave PCP how it is - internally in SGI we have
a single src tree for the open src and proprietary PCP pieces, and
splitting the tree will make this considerably less manageable.

However, I'd be very keen to start a new open source project
maybe called "PCP Open Monitor" or something. We could set up public
CVS on oss.sgi.com. Some initial contents might be:

* pmhelp: a simple GTK tree based PCP help viewer (written by me).

* Mike Mason's version of gtop/libgtop (the Gnome System Monitor)
that uses PCP as the collector back-end. Don't know what Mike
(or the Gnome people for that matter) would think about this ...

* the PCPMON charting package by Michal Kara (if he agrees)

* maybe a gtk/pcp library of reusable "performace gadgets" or something

What do folks think of this idea? Would anyone be willing to
put in the time to contribute? I can set up the cvs archive and
initial src tree.

thanks
