Is pmcd running? What's in /var/log/pcp/pmcd/pmcd.log? Failing evidence
of any other problem, does "pminfo -h localhost -fmdt" work? If so you
may be on a host with ip assigned by dhcp or something, in which case
bach.leonora.org does not match your ip address.

I just built a pristine 2.4.10 SMP kernel and it worked just fine.
This is on my RH7.1 machine at home - only one CPU though. I'll
try the same on a dual CPU box here at work.
