   The V.22, V.32, V.90, ... are DSP (modulation) stuff, although
   in case of V.90 that boarders protocol stuff.  V.42/V.42bis are
   definitely protocol material (error correction, and compression).

   Nevertheless, that binary stuff should sit in userspace, and
   only raw hardware driving in kernel.

   ... but probably there won't be generic device API because there
   are so many vendors ...

   ... and now we are way off-ping ...
