sk_buff question

Hi,
I'm mucking around in 2.2.12 (the IP stack part)
and as part of some mods I've been doing I ended
up adding a __u8 field at the end of the sk_buff.

I was wondering if any of the gurus care to comment
as to how permissible this is - any alignment, performance
issues I should be aware of?
