This enables users to determine which processor or set of processors a process may run on. Possible uses include forcing threads to seperate processors, timings, and probably more. ... t -- thomas.graichen@innominate.de technical director innominate AG clustering & security networking people tel: +49.30.308806-13 fax: -77 http://innominate.de From owner-sgilinux@oss.sgi.com Wed Sep 6 10:08:08 2000 Received: by oss.sgi.com id ; Wed, 6 Sep 2000 10:07:49 -0700 Received: from taz.cs.utah.edu ([155.99.203.51]:10802 "HELO taz.cs.utah.edu") by oss.sgi.com with SMTP id ; Wed, 6 Sep 2000 10:07:41 -0700 Received: by taz.cs.utah.edu (Mailer, from userid 1363) id 8FDABB38AD3; Wed, 6 Sep 2000 11:06:07 -0600 (MDT) Message-Id: <10009061106.ZM45396@taz.cs.utah.edu> X-Mailer: Z-Mail-SGI (3.2S.3 08feb96 MediaMail) To: sgilinux@oss.sgi.com Subject: 1600SW Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Date: Wed, 6 Sep 2000 11:06:07 -0600 (MDT) From: sparker@cs.utah.edu (Steven G. If I use the ones in the XF86Config_sgivpro, the multilink doesn't complain, but I get blue and yellow fuzz. If you cross your eyes just right, you can see a glimmer of an xterm in there somewhere. The multilink is also supposedly able to lock onto VESA 1280x1024 (and other) resolutions. However, I get the same result - blue/yellow fuzz. It works great in windows though (at 1280x1024 - haven't figured out 1600x1024 yet but that is a different story). This is the message from X, just before it chokes: (==) NVIDIA(0): Write-combining range (0x88000000,0x4000000) It loads sgivpro, mouse, vgahw, and then it recognizes quadro. Then it sets up the ramdac, loads cfb, mfb, xaa and ramdac. Then it prints out the above message and hangs the machine. As far as I can tell, the behavior is the same whether I load the module or not. The XF86Config distributed together with this has the appropriate modeline for 1600x1024 digital mode that has been tested and proven to work with the 1600SW with the MultiLinkAdaptor on a 330 with VR3 graphics. The specific stuff you need to do is simply to switch the screens section in your XF86Config to change to the following in your screens section: monitor "SGI_17inch_1600SW_MultiLink" modes "1600x1024" and that should be it as documented in the top portion of the XF86Config file itself. you should contact support if you have any problems. this will help them find out more about (and keep stats so that sgi figures out what went wrong) what customers are having trouble with. keep CCing me on any conversation, i'll make sure that SGI does things right for you. Since it is on default RedHat and we support all of default redhat AFAIK, then our support will support it (if you get a support contract). -tduffy > Thanks in advance. > > > __________________________________________________ > Luis Lopez Belda > llb@rtvv.es Tel: 34 96 3183000 > Sección de Informática - Radiotelevisión Valenciana > Poligono Acceso Ademuz S/N. 46100 Burjassot > Valencia - Spain > ___________________________________________________ > > > > From owner-sgilinux@oss.sgi.com Thu Sep 21 11:44:04 2000 Received: by oss.sgi.com id ; Thu, 21 Sep 2000 11:43:54 -0700 Received: from c632942-c.plstn1.sfba.home.com ([24.0.73.90]:37893 "EHLO c632942-c.plstn1.sfba.home.com") by oss.sgi.com with ESMTP id ; Thu, 21 Sep 2000 11:43:36 -0700 Received: from llnl.gov (IDENT:wang@localhost.localdomain [127.0.0.1]) by c632942-c.plstn1.sfba.home.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id LAA01663 for ; Thu, 21 Sep 2000 11:47:27 -0700 Message-ID: <39CA57BE.2353AD6A@llnl.gov> Date: Thu, 21 Sep 2000 11:47:26 -0700 From: Michael Wang X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.72 [en] (X11; U; Linux 2.2.14-5.0 i686) X-Accept-Language: en MIME-Version: 1.0 To: sgilinux@oss.sgi.com Subject: sgipropack 1.3 beta Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-sgilinux@oss.sgi.com Precedence: bulk Return-Path: X-Orcpt: rfc822;sgilinux-outgoing I downloaded the beta version of sgipropack 1.3 from your website. Knowing that the sgivpro cards are based on NVidia GeForce and Quadro chips, I thought I'd try it out on a Linux box running RedHat 6.2 (2.2.14-5.0) with a GeForce 256 DDR. But I can't seem to find an sgivpro kernel driver for the 2.2.14 Linux kernel. The only kernel drivers provided in your beta are for 2.2.12 and 2.2.13. Any suggestions? Did manage to get it working, though, using the sgivpro glx driver but with nvidia's kernel driver from their website. ProPack 1.3 which is different from ProPack 1.3-VW was not intended to support graphics on the visual workstation. Even if portions of it were there, it is not the same version that's in 1.3-VW. I suggest you call your SGI support person and discuss methods for you to obtain an SGI supported solution. Feel free to continue to CC me on the issue.
