I'm Javier Payan, from ISID, a Spanish company. I have a Silicon Graphics Challenge S Series computer (mod. WebFORCE), with a MIPS R5000 processor, and IRIX o.s. installed. I want to install Linux into it. So I wish to know if it is possible (it's possible to install Linux into a SGI Challenge WebFORCE), and how I can do it. Thank you for all. Javier Payán. Speaking of which, this list pretty much died.. anythin interesting going on? any mor progress on linux on Origin's? how do the new R14K's stack up? Any plans for a complete core update for higher clockspeeds/bus speeds/etc? What about using some of the new mips R9K's or the Sybyte ones? lots of processing power in a little space/power consumption. What about NUMA support in the kernel....? anybody gotten it beyond the simple round-robin stuff that was in there origionally? I'm still waiting for that dual, 1Ghz MIPS based laptop I've always wanted to build myself but lack the play money to do it..and dual bootit Linux/IRIX, of course. john.c On Fri, 22 Jun 2001, Kanoj Sarcar wrote: > To he best of my knowledge, no one has attempted > Linux on a Challenge S, or an R5000. but you should > check by sending mail to the linux-mips@oss.sgi.com > list. > > Good luck. > > Kanoj > -- John Clemens http://www.deater.net/john john@deater.net ICQ: 7175925, IM: PianoManO8 "I Hate Quotes" -- Samuel L.
