El Gobierno Federal ha instrumentado un programa de combate al robo de combustibles integrando diversas acciones en la cadena de produccion, distribucion y venta. Tal es el caso de las maquinas despachadoras que son usadas dia a dia por gran parte de mexicanos.

La Profeco ha comprobado que estos aparatos pueden alterarse a distancia a traves de dispositivos electronicos. Estan controlados por un software y este software se puede alterar de tal manera que a contentillo de un operador puede la maquina independientemente de la parte mecanica, surtir un 2%, 3%, un 5% y hasta un 40% menos.

Personal de la Secretaria de Seguridad Publica (SSP) y la Profeco detectaron irregularidades en 1410 gasolineras del pais, una de cada 10 estaciones roban combustible.
