To: kernprof@oss.sgi.com MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: owner-kernprof@oss.sgi.com Precedence: bulk Howdy folks... hopefully I'm not asking a terribly stupid question, but I have read the FAQ, and everything I could find. Can't resolve this simple issue, and I'm hoping someone out there knows the (probably) very simple answer: I'm trying to get kernel profiling enabled, but my kernel modules cannot resolve the mcount symbol. I built a 2.4.5 kernel, with the profile patch, and I turned on kernel mcount profiling. I used gcc-2.95.3, with the appropriate regparm patch applied. When I check the System.map for this kernel, I can see that the mcount symbol does indeed exist. And I can see in the modules that they have an unresolved mcount symbol there. And yet, when I boot the kernel, the modules cannot resolve the mcount symbol. I checked /proc/ksyms and mcount is not listed there. Any ideas why this might be happening? ===== Jarrett L.
