I assume that you can run a serial console and capture the kdb output over the serial console. If you cannot capture using a serial console then issue 'set LOGGING 1' first, when you type go the kdb output will be sent to syslog. Of course that assumes that the system can resume and still log to disk, a serial console is much better. --------------------------- Use http://oss.sgi.com/ecartis to modify your settings or to unsubscribe. However, once I enter the kdb> prompt the "keyboard" starts behaving erratically: I have observed the following erratic behavior: 1. Some characters are not echoed on the screen 2. Sometime characters are only echoed in uppercase; in this case it is almost impossible to shift to lower case (hitting Caps Lock does not help; though hitting it multiple times may allow lower case characters to be inserted) This almost makes it impossible to use a KDB with my laptop. I tried to debug the problem by using kdb_prinf() in the arch/i386/kdb/kdba_io.c::get_kbd_char(). But this would almost reboot the machine once I entered the kdb prompt (probably a buffer overflow, though I am not sure) This problem is similar to one posted on the mailing list by Zhang, Sonic. This can be located at http://oss.sgi.com/archives/kdb/2002-12/msg00039.html Questions: 1. Has anyone encountered this problem and corrected it? 2. Is there a solution to this problem? 3. How should I debug this problem further? thanks in advance /manjunath --------------------------- Use http://oss.sgi.com/ecartis to modify your settings or to unsubscribe. If you want source level debug then you might be happier with gdb and the kgdb stub. kdb has support for modules. You load the module with the usual insmod or modprobe command. Loading the module makes its global symbols available in kdb. If you need to get control before the module executes you could hunt down the mod->init() call in sys_init_module() and put a breakpoint there.
