Hello,
I have applied a kdb patch v.1.5 to 2.2.18 source. My .config file
reads
CONFIG_KDB=y
CONFIG_KDB_OFF=y
CONFIG_KALLSYMS=y
CONFIG_FRAME_POINTER=y
I turn on kdb by passing "kdb=on" to the kernel image.
Now, when I press the "Pause" key, the system hangs. At the same time,
the Caps lock and Scroll lock lights start to blink, which means to say
that kdb is _active_( from the documentation of kdb).
Why is the kdb not being invoked?
TIA,
manoj

It is being invoked. You will find kdb messages on the serial console
(if you have one) and on the text console. Some distributions move the
text console to another virtual console, find where the text console is
and switch there before invoking kdb.

v1.8 against 2.4.2-ac20 and 2.4.3-pre4.
The 2.4.2-ac kernel series has changed the way that the NMI watchdog
works. Now the default is no NMI watchdog, you have to add
nmi_watchdog=1 (SMP, UP boxes with IO-APIC) or nmi_watchdog=2 (UP boxes
without IO-APIC) to the boot line to activate the NMI watchdog.
2.4.3-pre4 does not have this change yet.

This update is just to sync with the current kernels. No new

I will not be supporting modutils, ksymoops or kdb for the next 4
weeks; time for a holiday, probably without net access.
