Organizations: Noon Hat , to never eat lunch alone again.  If you feel like a little company a= nd conversation at lunch, this site organizes people who'd like to get toget= her.  What makes something like this interesting is the potpourri of pe= ople it pulls together.  It gives you a chance to meet other people out= side of your usual circles and hear views that you may not otherwise cross p= aths with.  Keep in mind this isn't a dating site, but a site just to m= eet new and interesting people.

The Infection of Positivity.
Too much of anything is no longer a good thing.  So, when does being co= mplimentary and positive become counterproductive?  While positive feed= back can encourage a gentle ego to move forward, it can also feed a burgeoni= ng monster.  So are we a bunch of namby-pambies that should be using wh= ips instead of hugs?

You're Special .  This is the Mr. Rogers syndrome , which told us that we're special just for being whoever we are.  Act= ually, you're not special - you're as inspiring as two-week-old lettuce.&nbs= p; If you really want to be special, you need talent and industry.  Tel= ling others they're special for no particular reason leads to inflated egos = and self-entitled jerks.  The world is tough, and it doesn't owe anyone= anything.

Discourages Root-Cause Analysis.  Being too positive can lead one to believe the s= tatus quo is good, or at least good enough.  If you're getting positive= feedback on results, then everything is alright, isn't it?  Knowing so= mething isn't working kicks the arse into gear.

Taint of Insincerity.  Doling out positive vibes without solid backing is a form o= f compliment inflation.  So when the impressive result does come around= , well, big deal - it's just one more compliment among a handful of others.<= /SPAN>

Forum:<= /span> Globa= l=20 Warming Solutions, Jan 31st, free.  The forum examines how= =20 transportation, food, and economic and political choices affect the= =20 temperate gauge.  Don't drive your SUV to this.  Together,= individuals=20 banding together can become part of the solution.  Global warmi= ng has a=20 certain environmental cause de jour about it - it'll be interesting = to=20 see if this issue still has legs in 5-10 years.

Fitness= : Fit for Fun, Jan 31st,= free=20 but must RSVP.  Most exercise equipment ends up as a clothes ha= nger=20 about six months after purchase.  This little party helps you s= tick to=20 your new year's resolution by making sweating fun.  There are d= oor=20 prizes, light bites, and a fashion show.

Ballet:= Romeo and Juliet,=20 starting Jan 31st, $20+.  This story has been fodder for all so= rts of=20 derivative works, so here's to tragic young love in dance form. = ; This=20 one has gotten good reviews all over the world since it premiered ab= out=20 a decade ago, so it finally makes its way to Seattle.

Organizati= on: Jane Austen Society of Puget So= und,=20 for those who can't get enough of what some think is the best fictio= n=20 ever written in English.  Jane Austen composed just six preciou= s novels=20 in her short life, but what an impact they've made.  Go learn a= bout Ms.=20 Austen and Regency England.

Implementatio= n
Much of success coaching nowadays centers on the thinking part, of= =20 motivating yourself to take risks, creating new ideas, and setting= =20 goals.  Left out is the other half the equation--the "how?= ", the doing=20 part.  More time is spent on creating ideas than the sweat work= =2E  After=20 you formulate a goal, what actions do you actually take to make that= =20 goal happen?  When you're ready to get to work...

Set goals whi= ch are=20 solid, relevant, and measurable. =20 First, if the goal isn't measurable, how will you know if it's met?&= nbsp;=20 Second, emphasize actions with the best payback, those moving closer= to=20 the goals with the least effort and time.

Identify acti= ons to=20 the lowest level:  Actions shoul= d be=20 concrete, broken down to a single unit of effort, a simple and speci= fic=20 physical action that advances the goal.

Brutal honest= y:=20 postpone soft goals, analyze and follow-through, reward and punish.&= nbsp;=20 Deprioritize the mushy goals, such as "improve employee morale.= " =20 Analyze if the actions are having the intended consequences.  I= f=20 something isn't working, ditch it, and move on.

Getting= =20 Things Done=20 has been in vogue for the last several years.  This system help= s you=20 manage your actions.  Instead of a prioritized to-do list, this= system=20 emphasizes control and perspective.  Those who fo= llow this=20 system always seem to be able to respond to their email within ten= =20 minutes, and they never have old emails cluttering their inbox.
