Depending on the distribution you use you might have to go to the source for XFree86 to actually get the libraries. I use Redhat and (at least in 7.0 and 7.1) only the man pages are installed from the binary rpm (XFree86-devel-4.0.3-5) From owner-info-inventor@oss.sgi.com Thu Jul 5 05:08:26 2001 Received: (from majordomo@localhost) by oss.sgi.com (8.11.2/8.11.3) id f65C8QV15446 for info-inventor-outgoing; Thu, 5 Jul 2001 05:08:26 -0700 Received: from fwlux.linedata.com (unknown-195-43-101.eunet.lu [195.43.101.210] (may be forged)) by oss.sgi.com (8.11.2/8.11.3) with SMTP id f65C8NV15443 for ; Thu, 5 Jul 2001 05:08:23 -0700 Received: from korba.linedata.com (korba.linedata.lu [10.1.1.3]) by fwlux.linedata.com (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian 8.9.3-21) with ESMTP id OAA07892 for ; Thu, 5 Jul 2001 14:07:35 +0200 From: Christophe.Demez@linedata.com X-Authentication-Warning: fwlux.linedata.com: Host korba.linedata.lu [10.1.1.3] claimed to be korba.linedata.com Subject: OpenInventor and VisualBasic To: info-inventor@oss.sgi.com X-Mailer: Lotus Notes Release 5.0.4 June 8, 2000 Message-ID: Date: Thu, 5 Jul 2001 14:08:01 +0200 X-MIMETrack: Serialize by Router on korba/linedata/lu(Release 5.0.5 |September 22, 2000) at 07/05/2001 02:08:03 PM MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: owner-inventor@oss.sgi.com Precedence: bulk Hello, I want to know if it is possible to use OpenInventor with Visual Basic. Open Inventor does not support boolean operations on objects. This is typically the domain of geometry modeling software like ACIS. FYI, TGS does offer the SolidViz extension to our commercial Open Inventor, which provides interactive rendering of objects defined as boolean operations on arbitrary shapes. In other words we don't compute the actual CSG geometry, but we can draw a picture of it using rendering tricks (which is much faster than computing the geometry and sufficient for some applications). Open Inventor does support OpenGL clip planes, but I'm not certain what you mean by "slicing". -Mike TGS Inc, http://www.tgs.com From owner-info-inventor@oss.sgi.com Thu Jul 26 08:36:02 2001 Received: (from majordomo@localhost) by oss.sgi.com (8.11.2/8.11.3) id f6QFa2V12998 for info-inventor-outgoing; Thu, 26 Jul 2001 08:36:02 -0700 Received: from bpmail.fnal.gov (qmailr@waldo.fnal.gov [131.225.18.213]) by oss.sgi.com (8.11.2/8.11.3) with SMTP id f6QFa1V12993 for ; Thu, 26 Jul 2001 08:36:01 -0700 Received: (qmail 20741 invoked from network); 26 Jul 2001 10:35:59 -0500 Received: from wally.fnal.gov (jarekr@131.225.18.158) by waldo.fnal.gov with SMTP; 26 Jul 2001 10:35:59 -0500 Date: Thu, 26 Jul 2001 10:35:58 -0500 (CDT) From: Jarek Rzepecki To: info-inventor@oss.sgi.com Subject: Shapes...
