Actually many well-known products are now including FAM in their releases (or at least their development trees). If I remember correctly, this includes KDE, Enlightenment, and Nautilus. FAM would also appear to be useful for Unix daemons, but I'm not aware of any (perhaps except for a few IRIX ones) which support it. > Would it be possible to add a "software using fam" page to the > current project site, possibly also including links to such patches > for existing software? I recently took over Rusty Ballinger's position as the OSS FAM maintainer, and I'm sorry to say that the FAM web pages have not been updated for quite a while. I plan to update the FAM web pages soon, and will take this in to consideration. If anyone has a patch they would like me to link to on such a page, please contact me. -- MICHAEL WARDLE SGI FAM Maintainer Adacel Technologies Limited -- Source code, list archive, and docs: http://oss.sgi.com/projects/fam/ To unsubscribe: echo unsubscribe fam | mail majordomo@oss.sgi.com From owner-fam@oss.sgi.com Thu Sep 6 02:16:47 2001 Received: (from majordomo@localhost) by oss.sgi.com (8.11.2/8.11.3) id f869GlL12080 for fam-outgoing; Thu, 6 Sep 2001 02:16:47 -0700 Received: from smtp.noos.fr (lafontaine.noos.net [212.198.2.72]) by oss.sgi.com (8.11.2/8.11.3) with SMTP id f869Ghd12077 for ; Thu, 6 Sep 2001 02:16:44 -0700 Received: (qmail 58225579 invoked by uid 0); 6 Sep 2001 08:56:37 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO hobbes) ([195.132.245.229]) (envelope-sender ) by 212.198.2.72 (qmail-ldap-1.03) with SMTP for ; 6 Sep 2001 08:56:37 -0000 Received: from shaman by hobbes with local (Exim 3.32 #1 (Debian)) id 15euzR-0002e3-00; Thu, 06 Sep 2001 10:58:25 +0200 Date: Thu, 6 Sep 2001 10:58:25 +0200 From: Thierry Mallard To: fam@oss.sgi.com Subject: [fam] Possibly missing include in BTree.h Message-ID: <20010906105825.A2839@mallard.com> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="3V7upXqbjpZ4EhLz" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.3.20i Sender: owner-fam@oss.sgi.com Precedence: bulk --3V7upXqbjpZ4EhLz Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Greetings, I just download and compile fam-oss-2.6.4.tar.gz, but found a compilation error saying that NULL wasn't defined while compiling include/BTree.h So I added a #include in it and the compilation works.. My thought is that FAM *should* respect this environment variable, but perhaps some sanity checking should be performed to ensure that TMPDIR has all the necessary permissions. I will have a think about this issue. There may also be the possibility to override the temporary directory location in the configuration file, but I'll check with Rusty and others whether this is desirable. I wanted to try it out with a 2.4.10 kernel. After looking at the imon patches for 2.4.0, I determined that it was all addded files except for namei.c which is patched. There have been changes to namei.c since 2.4.10 but I got things to compile by simply adding an include to namei.c I don't think this worked out very well since it seems to break iptable support. Can someone help me get things going with 2.4.10. I tried reading the docs but it's pretty sparse for a beginner. I also wonder which fam I should be useing there seem to be a few different ones but not a lot of info on what the differences are.
