I'm trying to write a function in the kernel that will look at a directory in devfs, and find all the block devices under it. Seems like some sort of devfs_get_mode() would be needed for this? Or perhaps I'm missing something simple. :) Thanks, -Eric -- Eric Sandeen XFS for Linux http://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs sandeen@sgi.com SGI, Inc. 651-683-3102 From shitse@web.de Sun Nov 17 00:55:05 2002 Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list devfs); Sun, 17 Nov 2002 00:55:07 -0800 (PST) Received: from smtp.web.de (smtp02.web.de [217.72.192.151]) by oss.sgi.com (8.12.5/8.12.5) with SMTP id gAH8t4uR024621 for ; Sun, 17 Nov 2002 00:55:04 -0800 Received: from [217.81.151.161] (helo=there) by smtp.web.de with smtp (WEB.DE(Exim) 4.91 #2) id 18DLEb-0000J6-00 for devfs@oss.sgi.com; Sun, 17 Nov 2002 09:56:53 +0100 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" From: Debian User To: devfs@oss.sgi.com Subject: setting permissions for sg devices Date: Sun, 17 Nov 2002 09:55:22 +0100 X-Mailer: KMail [version 1.3.2] MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Message-Id: X-archive-position: 31 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: devfs-bounce@oss.sgi.com Errors-to: devfs-bounce@oss.sgi.com X-original-sender: shitse@web.de Precedence: bulk X-list: devfs i'm searching for a way to set the permissions of the generic device that belongs to a cdrom device. it would be easy to set the permissions if i know the id of the device, but as i want to be able to change the ids without breaking the permissions i need a way to do that dynamically. does the devfsd have a way to do that, or would i need to create a script that changes the perms file everytime the bus changes? thanks in advance quitte From chutz@chubaka.homeip.net Sat Nov 23 08:42:11 2002 Received: with ECARTIS (v1.0.0; list devfs); Sat, 23 Nov 2002 08:42:13 -0800 (PST) Received: from mail.my.home (141.107.111.219.dy.excite.co.jp [219.111.107.141]) by oss.sgi.com (8.12.5/8.12.5) with SMTP id gANGgAuR032290 for ; Sat, 23 Nov 2002 08:42:10 -0800 Received: (qmail 4745 invoked from network); 23 Nov 2002 16:44:31 -0000 Received: from tank.my.home (10.0.0.2) by 0 with QMQP; 23 Nov 2002 16:44:31 -0000 Date: Sun, 24 Nov 2002 01:44:30 +0900 From: Georgi Georgiev To: devfs@oss.sgi.com Subject: post-install not executed Message-ID: <20021123164430.GA15912@tank.my.home> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.4i X-archive-position: 32 X-ecartis-version: Ecartis v1.0.0 Sender: devfs-bounce@oss.sgi.com Errors-to: devfs-bounce@oss.sgi.com X-original-sender: chutz@gg3.net Precedence: bulk X-list: devfs I am using the emu10k1 modules from http://emu10k1.sf.net I have alias /dev/sound/dsp sound-slot-0 alias /dev/dsp /dev/sound/dsp in /etc/modules.devfs, and I also have alias sound-slot-0 emu10k1 post-install emu10k1 /usr/bin/emu-script restore 2>&1 >/dev/null pre-remove emu10k1 /usr/bin/emu-script save 2>&1 >/dev/null in /etc/modules.conf If I do "ls /dev/dsp" as root or as a regular user the emu10k1 module is loaded and the devices in /dev/sound/, as well as the /dev/dsp symlink are created.
