kernprof and gcc 2.6

The FAQs on this website say that with gcc 2.6, CONFIG_MCOUNT
will not build a working kernel. Atleast with 2.4.2, I was
able to build a working kernel with gcc 2.6 without any 
problems and I am able to do call graph profiling easily.
Have the FAQs not been updated or am I missing something ?
I am not on this mailing list so please cc me on the
replies.
