FYI, the Kernprof-profiling patch has been enhanced and bumped forward to the
2.4.6 kernel. The biggest fix is to avoid a potential recursive page-fault
loop while doing mcount counting (a contribution from Niels Christiansen,
nchr@xxxxxxxxxx). Also, various important CONFIG_* options are automatically
enabled if profiling is enabled, such as CONFIG_X86_MSR (for the "pmc"
performance counter functionality), and CONFIG_PROFILING if CONFIG_MCOUNT is
enabled.
A small enhancement to the Kernprof command (kernprof.c) is also available
(another contribution from Niels Christiansen), to display the total number
of PC ticks, in addition to the per-procedure tick counts, giving you a
number against which to judge the significance of the per-procedure counts.
