I've had night terrors my whole life. I would keep it to myself, but the lack of sleep is making me go insane. Or is it even? Is it making me go insane? Is it not? Is it even a lack of sleep? Am I overreacting? I'm not a good writer, so don't expect much from me. Don't look at this as me telling you a story. I am not. I am asking you for help. I never wake up without at least one lingering in my memory. Sometimes it's just a very strange and vivid one, often it's a nightmare, but the worst are the night terrors, sleep paralysis as Google has told me. It mostly strikes when I'm falling asleep in the mornings after waking up, usually when my SO leaves for work before me. The thing about sleep paralysis is that it's not like a nightmare, where things tend to be kind of like a horror movie - eerie feeling, jump scare, murderer, heart ing, legs feeling like stiff peanut butter. As horrible as all that is, at least it's straightforward. Sleep paralysis is truly something different and if you haven't had it, seriously, count your blessings. It's more like looking around, and everything is fine. Doing a double take, and realizing something is slightly, slightly off. Internally and groggily wondering, Was that picture frame always slightly to the left? or, Did I leave the closet door open last night?. Things just feel off.
