It is not a password problem, anonymous ftp works.  There is a path MTU
problem with oss.sgi.com which I have been trying to get fixed for some
time.  Until it is fixed, drop the MTU on your ethernet connection to
1400 and try again.

Sorry for the inconvience but I have no control over oss.sgi.com or its
firewall :(.
