Yes, I went back to a 2.2.13 kernel and was still seeing occasional hangs on
that.  It does seem to be related to the system being fairly active; I don't
know if specifically disk IO is the issue.

I guess that rather argues against it being anything to do with SMP changes
2.2.13 -> 2.2.14, though.
