Going Vegan
Skip
the animal output in your next restaurant visit. These places are about
what you expect for vegan: an atmosphere on the dingy side, but relaxed
and friendly; the food is inexpensive and surprisingly tasty.

Mighty-O Donuts: These donuts have
higher moisture, tend to be sweeter, and the flavors have more pop. The
chocolate and cinnamon donuts get the raves here. Given the sweetness
factor, this is actually more of a post-breakfast place.
Hillside Quicke's Cafe:
Like Dick's french fries, the flavor is wonderful, but the grease makes
this a two-napkin meal, and you feel a little guilty afterwards. The
Mac 'n Cheese and the Jamaican tofu burgers get all of the compliments.
Pizza Pi Vegan Pizzeria: This
place got a lot better when the new owners took over. The garlic sauce
gets the raves here, but don't plan on kissing anyone afterwards.
Supposedly, the gluten-free dishes are the best here.
