Because You Can: Japanese Biodiesel Car Demo, Feb 16th, free.  You can see how this car operates and donate some cooking oil to help this car travel along its world tour.  Also, Puppy Love, Feb 13th, free but must RSVP.  Dogs and their owners hang out together for a evening at the W Hotel.  You drink the martinis while single dogs get to know each other.  *  Also, Clif Bar Chilly Hilly, Feb 24th, $27, just what a person goes for in a bike ride - cold weather and 2600+ feet of hill climbing.

Lectures: Biblical Archeology and the Media: Why It Matters, Feb 13th, free but must RSVP, on the cast-offs God left behind in the context of the media's portrayal.  *  Also, With God on Our Side, Feb 16th, $5, of one man's view of how fundamentalist Christians are indoctrinating soldiers in the US Military.  *  Also, Reflections on Japan in Transition - Domestic, Regional & Global, Feb 15th, $30, on how those four little islands affect the world, and how the world affects them.  *  Also, Heroes Without Holidays, Feb 13th, free, on some of the B-level civil rights leaders who made worthy contributions, but are not household names.  *  Also, New Ways to Ease the Pain, Symptoms and Stress of Serious Illness, Feb 21, free but must RSVP, on improving care to the sick and dying.

Astronomy: Total Lunar Eclipse viewing, Feb 20th, free.  The evens happens in the early evening, so you don't need to stay up late to see the obscured moon.  Plenty of nice volunteers are on hand, and they even provide the telescopes.  If you've never seen a lunar eclipse, then it's worth the effort to make this one.

Women's Interest: Women of Wisdom, Feb 15-18th, $40+, a touchy-feely workshop on empowering women's spirits and dreams.  Go for your fill of positive energy.  *  Also, The Vagina Monologues, Feb 24th, $36.  Gads, this has got to be the biggest cootie-fest in town.  The female experience is explored along all its dimensions, of humor, pain, wisdom, outrage, and a few others you probably didn't know that you had.  *  Also, Dance Party, Feb 24th, $5, a come-as-you-are dance work out, minus the leering guys dry humping you on the dance floor.

Men's Interest: Astute Gentleman, Feb 25th, $500, a session of classes, on polishing both your looks and your manners.  If you missed charm school when you were a kid, here's the make up.  There's a reason why those James Bond types get the swoons.

Family: Popsicle Bridge Contest, Feb 16th, free with regular museum admission.  The kid gets a batch of popsicle sticks and white glue with the challenge to hold as much weight as possible.  Bridges are tested in a hydraulic press, and when they snap, the popsicle sticks go bursting everywhere.  You'll be saving the popsicle sticks from your Fudgiscles after this.

Intelligence: Mensa Test, Feb 16th, $40.  Go for it smarty pants, and see if you've become smarter or stupider.  This group is for the top 2% most intelligent of the population.  Discover exactly how much mental horsepower you have in that brain of yours.

Collectables: Coleman Group, Feb 16th, free.  Here's more proof that there's a group for collecting just about everything.  Over a hundred vintage Coleman stoves and lanterns are on display.  Bring a tent to pitch and some hot dogs to cook, and you're in business.

Valentines Day: Fly and Dine, $184/couple.  You get a 20- minute tour of Seattle from the air, and then dinner for two at McCormick & Schmick's.  Ask them to do a flyby of the Space Needle.  *  Also, the Underground Tour is running a Valentine's package, $85/couple.  Learn about the seedy side of love in old Seattle, and then return for a three-course dinner.  * Also, Spanish Harlem Orchestra is doing a dinner and dance on the 14th, $65/person.  You know how that music can really get the blood flowing.

Organizations: Seattle Poker Open, of playing big stakes with little stakes.  This is a learning league for those who think they've got the chops to get into the big money, but want to test the waters first before risking the bucks.  Play poker with others just as serious about the game as you are.

Six-pack Abs
Forget the crunches and gimmicks.  For guys who want a flat stomach, the best lessons come from the girls:

Belly Dancing.  What's not to like about this?  You get great stomach muscles, better posture, and a more limber back.  Women's hips are built better for side-to-side movement, while men's hips are better for forward and back movements.  As a bonus, belly dancers have this cool sword dance, where you getta swing a big sword around.  Now, go undulate your way to a flatter stomach.

Hula Hooping.  This is a low cost, low impact activity, and it also increases coordination.  Using a hula hoop really builds up the core, so you have great balance and better flexibility.  Most newbies can get a rhythm going with 20 minutes of practice.  Also, the Chat With Women ladies just did a radio segment (Jan 28th) on losing weight by hula hooping.

Pole Dancing.  The pool has migrated from strippers, to bedroom thrills, to girl exercise, and now, it's moved on to the guys.  Pole dancing increases upper body strength by using the body as resistance, while toning the entire body.  Of course, you'll spice up your love life, and you'll be a hit at the next party.
