Linker problem revisited - _dl_check_map_version

I cannot seem to escape the following error on execution:

    "BUG IN DYNAMIC LINKER ld.so: dl-version.c: 210: _dl_check_map_version:
    Assertion 'needed != ((void *) 0)' failed!

This occurs whenever I link in the Inventor libraries.

On an Intel platform, I am using egcs-2.91.66, Redhat 6.2, Metrolink Motif
1.2, Mesa 3.2.  Previous suggestion regarding link order for Mesa files does
not seem to help.  Any ideas?
