Updates

Hi all,

I've checked in a number of changes to the CVS repository earlier this morning,
mostly updates to makefiles and fixes for the more obvious bugs. I've also
provided new RPM files in the FTP download area. I will provide the
corresponding tar files later.

Let me know if there are any problems. I will probably work on reviewing and
integrating support for the FreeType library for the next release.
