Let me guess. You are using NVIDIA hardware with the NVIDIA drivers,
correct? (even if it's an SGI PC, it's using NVIDIA hardware). If yes,
then this is a known bug in the NVIDIA drivers and should be fixed in
the upcoming driver rev.
