Dear FAM developers,
after asking for a solution for my current problem on linux-kernel I was
pointed to the FAM project. From reading the FAQ I understand that you
can monitor abritary files or directories for changes.
My problem is slightly different. We often have the problem, that we
need to create what we call "hot folders". A hot folder is being polled
for changes every n seconds. Newly arrived files are being processed.
Updated files are being re-processed. As you can image it is not
desirable to do this with find & friends, so I was looking for a
solution within the VFS layer of the linux kernel. People mentioned
d_notify but it does not help much.
So, my questions:
1) Is FAM capable of doing what I need to create a "hot folder" without
polling the directory every n seconds ?
2) If not, are there any plans to have such a feature integrated into
FAM?
Thanks for your help!
