Yes, only thr^H^H^Hfour weeks after I said I would do it, fam-oss-2.6.3 is
out. (http://oss.sgi.com/projects/fam/)
This incorporates the patches that everyone's been sending for the last few
weeks, but see the caveats below. (Also, I don't actually have gcc-2.95.2
working on my machine yet, and it's quite possible that I goofed up merging
some of the patches, so let me know if you have any problems. I did consider
pasting the source into http://www.codesourcery.com/gcc-compile.html...)
Also, I added a rpm target, so you can go "./configure && make rpm", and it
will put RPM packages in build/rpm. If you have other package formats you
like, let me know, and I will be happy to add them. (I believe I have a moral
obligation to add SGI IRIX inst format next.) RPM gave me a lot of grief, but
I'm pretty happy that it's working now, & that you don't have to be root to
build an RPM. (oh yeah, so there are RPMs in the download area too.)
What I didn't add:
- Sumit Bose included snprintf for platforms which don't have it, but the
qpopper licensing terms made me nervous. I thought it would be easier to
paste snprintf etc. from glibc than to get permission from Qualcomm to
include theirs, and it may still turn out to be easy, but I haven't done
it yet. ("If at first you don't succeed... hey, are you guys going to
dinner?") There were a couple of other things in Sumit's patch which I
haven't incorporated yet, which means it still won't build on IRIX 5.3
unless you grab parts of Sumit's patch again. (Sorry about that...)
- Ingvaldur Sigurjónsson's patch had some changes to IMonIrix.c++, but
instead I made the configure script smarter about not building that
on Linux. :)
Let me know if it fails in any way to surpass your wildest expectations.
