Trying to add a second hard drive to a Mandrake 9.1 system running DevFS.
OS detects drive on bootup and shows it in device manager but I can't access
the drive, even with fdisk. The device manager shows the drive as being at
/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0/disc. The directory
/dev/ide/host0/bus1/target0/lun0 exists but is empty. I boot Debian
(without DevFS) on this same machine and it sees the new drive no problem.
I can mount it and access it fully. I've tried this on three different
Mandrake 9.1 machines with three different hard drives and have gotten the
same results in all cases. I've already discussed this on the Mandrake
forums and the consenses it that it's a DevFS issue. Has anyone seen this
before? Is there a way around it?
